JENNIFER WILLIAMS

Author • Illustrator  Curious. Courageous. Clever. Picture books with a punch.

Mission Statement

I create heartfelt, visually rich picture books that help children feel seen, brave, and delightfully themselves; blending humor, emotional depth, and imaginative storytelling to explore identity, belonging, and the courage to grow.

About the Author-Illustrator

Jennifer Williams is an author-illustrator creating character-driven picture books that balance humor with emotional depth. Her stories center curious, big-hearted characters navigating questions of identity, belonging, and self-worth—often with a touch of mischief and invention.

She is the creator of the Cassidy Cucumber series, set in the whimsical Garden Borough, where tradition and individuality don’t always agree, and where being different just might save the day.

Jennifer’s work is inspired by a deep belief that children deserve stories that both entertain and understand them. Her creative background combines visual storytelling, structured production thinking, and a strong sense of narrative pacing—resulting in books that are both emotionally resonant and visually engaging.

She lives in Massachusetts, where she writes and illustrates from her cozy, ever-evolving studio

Current Project

CASSIDY CUCUMBER’S BRINY BREAKTHROUGH

Picture Book | Ages 4–8

In the Garden Borough, every cucumber is destined to become a pickle—spicy, sweet, salty, or sour. But Cassidy Cucumber has other ideas. She’d rather invent than ferment.

When the town’s Grand Fermentation Barrel threatens to explode at the annual Brine Bash, Cassidy must decide: follow tradition… or trust her own way of thinking.

A warm, humorous story about self-trust, curiosity, and redefining what it means to “fit.”

Themes & Story DNA

Jennifer’s work consistently explores:

  • Identity & self-discovery
  • Belonging vs. individuality
  • Curiosity and creative problem-solving
  • Emotional resilience in young children
  • Family expectations and quiet support
  • Friendship rooted in acceptance, not performance
